  • Warmoth will only apply a finish to necks with frets already installed, or fretless necks. If you select "No Frets - Slots Only" the Finish option will not be available.
  • On maple necks with maple fretboards the entire neck is finished including the fretboard and frets. We do not remove the finish from the frets. This finish will wear off quickly with use, or can be scraped off quite easily. A fret leveling operation will also take it off.
  • On Vintage Tint necks, an amber tint is added to the finish to make the neck appear aged. It is a tinted color, not a "relic" finish.
Does my Neck require a Finish?

For a valid warranty, Maple, Mahogany, Walnut, Korina, and Koa necks must be covered in a hard finish, sufficiently thick to completely cover the entire surface of the wood. Oil finishes do not validate our warranty requirements.

All our necks are dipped in an oil based penetrating sealer which is compatible with virtually all secondary finishes. This provides enhanced stability; however, it is not adequate protection for playing. We strongly recommend you apply a hard finish to all Maple, Mahogany, Walnut, Korina, and Koa necks.

  • Matching paint on bodies and necks should be ordered at the same time. Items ordered and painted separately will not have an ideal color match.
  • The appearance of transparent finishes can change depending on the wood they are applied over. In order for the transparent color, dye, or burst on a headstock to match a body, it must be made of the same wood as the body's LamTop.
