Guitar Body Constructions

Warmoth makes guitar bodies using three different constructions: Solid, Chambered, and Hollow. Not every construction is available on every body style. The sections below explain each construction in more detail.

Solid Bodies

Solid guitar bodies are built with a solid wood core. A Lam Top may also be used, but is not required.

  • A Lam Top is optional on solid bodies

Chambered Bodies

Warmoth chambered bodies are created by routing a system of small chambers from a solid body blank. These chamber designs were carefully developed to reduce weight by a minimum of 25%, while maintaining strength and resistance to feedback. Extra wood is left in both strap button positions so that they can be mounted securely.

  • A Lam Top is required on Chambered Bodies
  • Chamber rout patterns vary by body style

Try a Chambered Body for 30 days, risk free!

Chambered bodies are very resonant, with great sustain. Alder, Ash, and Mahogany each retain their tonal signature, but notes are more open, full, and fat. We are so certain you will love your chambered body that we guarantee it. Purchase any chambered guitar or bass body from our in-stock inventory and try it in the real world. Bolt on a neck, string it up, and play it. If you find you don't love the resonant tone and light weight, return the body within 30 days for a full refund.

Hollow Bodies

Warmoth hollow bodies are created by routing large chambers in the wings of a solid body blank. A chamber is also routed behind the bridge. On certain models you can opt to have this bridge chamber left solid, in order to install a Bigsby. Extra wood is left in both strap button positions so that they can be mounted securely.

  • A Lam Top is required on Hollow Bodies
  • Routing patterns vary by body style
  • Some bodies allow "Modified Hollow" construction, in which the chamber behind the bridge is left solid, so a Bigsby-style tremolo can be mounted.
